The job of a soccer coach is to shape a diverse group of players into a team and align them to stay 100 % Behind the joint goal. A team can show that it does not necessarily have to come out on top to win the hearts of the fans everywhere they play. These are the hearts which help them to go beyond the limits.
Edelmann, of course, is not a soccer team, although I loved to play soccer in my earlier years. Companies too, compete with others in their business area. Through this competition the nonwovens industry receives continuously improving and value adding technical solutions and services. To some extent we see ourselves as a consultant helping our customers to find the best solution to meet his winding and slitting requirements.
Often, it seems, companies believe that size is the key for success. Growth, acquisitions and mergers, are seen as a sign of strength. But we know from soccer that buying a roster of talented players doesn´t always make the best team.
Our company does not strive to reach absolute size, instead substance and excellence in target business sectors where we have proven our strength - and will develop further are our goals. We rely on building our own workforce which personifies the Edelmann spirit. Our business partners who have experienced this, know what I mean.
